Brave Little Danny Endorses Kellerman Cookies, Thanksgiving, Birthdays and Merry Christmas!

A very brave and adoreable little one year old named Danny (my great nephew) gave a resounding endorsement to Kellerman Cookies when he posed happily for this photo.  A couple of months ago, Danny had his cleft palate repaired and was all in on this "cupcake" cookie on Thanksgiving.  Danny, you have earned all the free cookies you can eat for this endorsement.  So happy you're able to enjoy the yummy cookies now!  Keep growing and getting stronger.  Your Aunt Barbie LOVES YOU!

Danny endorses the Kellerman Cookie, Frosting side down of course!

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite Holidays.  There is no gift giving, just gathering with family and friends and truly taking time out to give thanks for all that we have been blessed with - and the list is long!   Just  a few of the things for which I am thankful includes the love of my life, Paul (XOXO), unbelievable bunch of kids (8) and their spouses/boyfriends/girlfriends, fantastic family and friends, a job which I absolutely love (maternity nurse) and good health (let's not talk about the diet).

Birthdays!

Max and Olivia celebrated Birthdays and Legos and Cupcake cookies were the themes.

Happy Birthday Max!

Happy Birthday Olivia!

My youngest daughter, Catherine, just celebrated her 10th birthday and chose a horse cake (it seems the humans in our house are a little tired of cookies - the dog still loves 'em).  She was delighted with the end result and celebrated with her best friend, Elyssa who actually shares the exact same birthday!

This Horse Cake took half the time the cookies do. ..
but not looking to going into cake business : )

Last  but not least, Christmas is coming!  I made a conscious decision not to take too many cookie orders as I was wanting to enjoy the season with family and friends and not be spending too much time in the kitchen baking cookies on my days off.

Have a joyous and blessed holiday season!

Fall Harvest and Baby Girls!

It was fun to make some cookie favors for a little Halloween Party for moms and babies at the hospital where I work.  We had a great time parading the precious little babies in their costumes through the Mother/Baby unit where I work as an RN.  As we get ready for Thanksgiving, I'm sure our fondant color of the month will be orange. I'm experimenting with some new final finishes on the fondant frosting.  The cookies this time were topped with fondant frosting and then  dusted with a pearl dust (edible, of course!).

On another note, my friend and co-worker welcomed a baby girl into the family, Mila Marie. Congratulations Jill and Lenny. Hope the cookies didn't given the big sister and brothers too much of a sugar high.  Your sweet baby is beautiful! In true Kellerman fashion, we celebrated with COOKIES!

Have lots of orders for specialty cookies this month, be sure to come back to see the latest fall creations!

Piggy, Legos, Angry Birds, and Rainbows

Love this little piggy.  No special occasion but just loved the cookie
cutter and had to try it out. I especially liked making the curly little tail : )

This past week was a colorful one with the Legos and Angry Bird cookies.  The white marshmallow fondant was transformed into these bright colors.  My previous attempts to get the vibrant colors have resulted in pinks (for red) and grey (for black).  So after researching suggestions on the internet, I tried some recommendations to color the red orange first then move to red, and color the black green first and move to black.  It's a bit tricky to get the vibrant color without changing the taste and consistency of the fondant but I think we've finally done it. Each angry bird cookie had between 6 and 8 individual pieces of fondant which takes lots of time but the end result was very fun.  Before starting out, I set out the fondant and in this case, it looked as though I was getting ready to play with playdoh.  With the rest of the colored fondant, I made lego cookies.

They don't really look that angry to me. . . .

"Play-doh" fondant, angry birds in disguise.

Lego stacks, they should have been photographed on
the floor since that's where I usually find legos!

These rainbow cookies were made for a Brownie/Girl Scout Bridging Ceremony for which a rainbow is the symbol.  They were enjoyed by all the Scouts after their event.

With Halloween in a few days, I will be busy making treats for classroom parties and my friends at  work.  Hope you all have a safe Halloween.  Thanksgiving is just around the corner - I really love the holidays . . .Can't wait!

Soccer, Halloween and a beautiful Rose!

A couple of boys will be celebrating birthdays this weekend and I was lucky enough to get to make some fun cookies.   Hope those parties are fun and you enjoy your special day.

Packaged and ready for pick up.

Each soccer ball required multiple fondant cutouts  to achieve the look.

Pumpkins and Ghosts on Sticks

Ghosts wrapped and ready to go!

On another note, baby Rose is getting baptized Sunday and so some dove and cross cookies were in order for that celebration.  For sweet Rose, I used an accent of a rosebud on her cookies.  Congratulations Annie and Bart on your beautiful daughter!

A beautiful cross with rosebud celebrating baby Rose' Baptism

Do you suppose this counts for Sunday mass? ( just kidding)

The Kellerman house remains very busy with kids activities, working and helping the Grandmas.  We are so very blessed. Hoping you all continue to enjoy this beautiful Fall season.

Mini's - "Fat Pills" & Stroke Risk Decreased with Home-made Cookies!

I wanted to take cookies to work for my friends and thought it was the perfect opportunity to introduce the "Mini" or as I refer to them as "Fat Pills".  They are a one or two bite cookie that are perfect for just a little bit of something sweet. These are chocolate covered with pink fondant and decorated with a royal icing rosebud.

On another note, I read on Yahoo news this past week that store bought or processed cookies are one of the foods that increase your risk of having a stroke. The solution they mentioned was making your cookies at home, from scratch.  That sounded to me like an endorsement for my made-from-scratch cookies which contain only natural ingredients such as butter (not margarine or shortening) and no preservatives. So, I guess they're saying that my cookies are actually good for you !  ( Do you think?) Let me know if I can contribute to your good health : )

Here's a link to the yahoo article if you'd like to see for yourself!

Happy Birthday Lola!

A Bird Theme in Aqua and Pink

Cupcake with the polka dots in the theme colors.

A special birthday cookie for the Birthday Girl

Lola celebrated her one year old birthday with family and friends this weekend and a special custom bird cookie was baked for her.  The problem I encountered this week was trying to match the bird cookie cutter with the invitation style.  After much searching for the perfect one, I decided that it hadn't been created yet so I decided to reshape my dove cookie cutter into this simplistic style bird cookie.  Hoping Lola had a lovely party today. Happy Birthday!

Gotta Love those Angry Birds!

I had a request for angry bird cookies for a birthday boy in October.  So, I thought I'd practice making these well-known birds.  I did the little blue birds (notice they are in their pack of 3) with the fondant but it was a very humid day here yesterday and the fondant was extra sticky (well duh - it's made out of marshmallows). So for the others, I used a royal icing with the color flow technique to get the bright colors I needed.

The cookies were quickly devoured by hungry Blue Valley Seniors who have been working hard on their Homecoming Float in our yard.  Hoping these cookies make you smile.  If you don't know the Angry Birds, just google it and you'll quickly find out who these little guys are.

The ANGRY BIRDS!  Their eyebrows remind me of Bert from Sesame Street.

Next up, Baptism cookies and cupcakes for a beautiful Abigail, first girl in a family of four children who will have a very special day this coming weekend. And as always, come back to see what's new at the Kellerman Cookie Blog.

ON THIS SEPTEMBER 11TH, I REMEMBER ALL THOSE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES 10 YEARS AGO AND PRAY FOR THE FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS WHO WERE LEFT BEHIND.  GOD BLESS!

Broken Grandma and Church Auction

Grandma fell and broke her elbow and shoulder last Friday as she was coming up the front steps to her house so she's been in the hospital since, with surgery yesterday and recovering now.  She does love her sweets and hasn't been eating well so I thought a few little flower cookies is just what the doctor ordered.

Trying something new, arranging so you can see all the cookies is tricky.
I'll need to get various size cookie sticks next time.

Flower cookies to help Grandma heal!

Wea Rodeo Auction Cookie Bouquet

Our little country church is having it's annual auction and they asked each family to try to donate an item. I hope this cookie bouquet is well-received there.  I've decided that I really don't like working with brown colored fondant, it just isn't pretty but is appropriate for some cookies.

Next up,  birthday cookies in a bird theme for little Lola who's turning one! Can't wait!

Western Cookies to Celebrate a Colorado Couple - Congrats Darren and Bri!

Boots, Hats and Steer (No, that is not a Texas Longhorn my K-State Friends!)

I had the opportunity to try another theme, it's western week.  I hope the new couple enjoys the celebration.  Thanks so much for your order, Carol.   I'm sure there will be some Country Music playing while you dig into these yummy desserts.  With this order, I was able to include chocolate, lemon and original sugar cookies, all with the delicious marshmallow fondant.

If you want to get your hands on some of these cookies, I'll be making a large cookie bouquet to be auctioned off at the Wea Rodeo Auction.  If you're interested in going to this fun event, let me know and we'll get you the info.  Here's the link to learn more.

Have a safe and fun Labor Day weekend everyone!

Lucky 7's and CHOCOLATE

Happy Birthday Alex !

Looks like a pool party for Alex will conclude with some fun cookie favors. Had a request from a busy Mom for cookies she could hand out instead of those "@**^@" goodie bags.   Amy, I'm so glad I could help out and we added a special  Cookie for the Birthday Boy.

Our other exciting news is a new cookie flavor is now available.  Our original recipe  CHOCOLATE has been perfected. This decadent cookie is rich, dense and pairs extremely well with the marshmallow fondant ~ a brownie without the crumbs.  It also can be customized into any shape or size for your special occasion.

Cookie with Flower on a Stick

A couple of new designs were tried out this weekend at a family cookout Saturday night. Our niece was visiting from Arizona and so I thought I'd try my hand at Cactus and Flowers on a stick.  I think they turned out very cute and as always, they were quickly devoured.

WELCOME BABY ROSE!

Baby Rose arrived Sunday this past weekend and is one of the cutest babies ever!  I hope to get a picture of this darling soon to post. Congrats Annie and Bart on your bundle of joy.  It won't be long, we'll be making 1 yr old Birthday cookies for baby Rose.

Cupcakes anyone?

We traveled to Minnesota this past weekend to visit Teresa (our daughter) and Ross who were married this past June.  It just happened to be Ross' birthday so I had an excuse to bake some special cookies for a great guy. Ross, welcome to the family!  Hope you had a great birthday.

I also wanted to say congrats to  our daughter, Sara, on her very successful back-to-school cookies.  Hope you had fun baking.  Sorry your crazy dog got to your softened butter before you did.  Glad my emergency cookie dough came through for you.

After working the last three days at the hospital, I believe some baking is in store tomorrow.  If anyone has any special cookie needs, let me know.

Baby Buggies and Onesies for a Sweet Baby Boy

It was so much fun coming up with another couple designs for baby shower cookies.  Mary, I hope your friends enjoyed these cookies made just for the baby shower you hosted. We sure had fun creating the new onesie designs. I want to give a shout out to Mary Beth, my daughter who gets credit for the artwork.

Horses, Flowers and Flip Flops

The Kellerman kitchen has been busy with lots of cookie activity. A  shower this weekend for a soon to be bride gave way to tropical themed cookies in the form of flip flops, flowers and bridal gowns. Jennifer, I hope your guests enjoyed your custom cookies. It was so fun creating these for your special occasion.

My youngest daughter is a horse lover so it was time to design a horse cookie for her. Luckily, she loves to help out in the kitchen so after the cookies were baked and fondant applied, she was given artistic license to decorate the horses.  I think the end result was adorable.  Thanks for you help, Catherine!

Next week, I look forward to providing cookies for a  baby shower, it's a boy this time!  Thanks Mary for your order, I look forward to creating unique onesies and footprints for your special event.

School starts in about 10 days, I'm sure some Back To School Cookies will be forthcoming as we have a special teacher who plans to surprise her new students with custom cookies on the first day back.
