Heat Wave Cookies

It's been so hot outside the past two weeks even my flowers are complaining.  I thought I  should make some flower cookies.   I did a little experimenting with a new original cookie recipe.  These are Lemon Cut-Out cookies.  They are yummy and have a refreshing lemon zip to them.  I plan to pass them out to some friends and take a batch to work to share with my co-workers.  There are many changes going on there and a little cookie pick-me-up is just what they might need.  If you're one of the lucky ones to get to sample this new flavor, let me know what you think.

Baby Shower Cookie Fun

My niece had a baby shower today for her sister who is expecting Baby Rose in August. So of course, that means that we got to create some fun cookies for the occasion. My sisters came over for a tutorial lesson on our favorite sugar cookie with fondant frosting. We had a blast. We did get a little help from my daughters, Catherine and Mary Beth for the beading and decorating. Everyone had a great time and we decided we'd have to have another "cookie night" just to have an excuse to get together again. It was a lovely shower with not only wonderful company but an awesome cake and fun cookies. Good Luck Annie with Baby Rose and we might just need to send some more cookies your way when you deliver.

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY

We had a great time at the lake with family and friends for the last few days. Before we finished packing, I made a batch of my favorite cookies, the Rolled Sugar Cookie topped with Marshmallow Fondant and Sugar Sprinkles. One of my kids thought the ratio of cookie to fondant was off a little bit, thinking there should be about a 1:1 ratio since she LOVES the taste of the fondant. Everyone else thought they were just about right. There were none to bring home from the weekend so I think the rest of the gang was correct. Next batch, I'll make Mary Beth her special cookies with as much fondant as cookie. Hope everyone had a good 4th. God Bless America!
